[In a forest clearing, roughly an hour's walk from the village's edge, one can find Yuan. After a conversation with Guy, he realized he really doesn't know all that much about Luceti's magic, which is why he's started a small experiment; Can Filial magic be combined with magic spells from back home to improve its power? He's hoping that with the aid of the Filial lightning spirit, Tsinku, he can upgrade the potency of his own magic past that fifty percent limit. He's been at it for a while now, with no luck.

People who happen to be passing by or were, in fact, attracted to this sudden spamming of lightning magic will see Yuan twirling his default double-edged saber over his head, surrounded by the purple light of spell casting.]

I call upon thee in the land of the dead to unleash thy fury of thunder! Indignation!

[The crackle of electricity takes up a relatively large amount of space and is soon after followed by a sharp lightning bolt from the sky. Sadly, the effect of the spell is still hovering around half of what it's supposed to be and Yuan's starting to grow pretty damned exhausted.

Anyone want to bother, or ask him about the charred trees and other such foliage in the vicinity?]

[Yuan turns to glance at Hurdy, wondering just what the heck kind of animal that is. Until he sees the Filial wings, anyway. Those Malnosso choose some strange creatures to be residents, from time to time.]

[Jade enters the clearing. He was off in a wide open field some ways off, trying to make contract with Hyt. But with so much noise, it's really quite difficult to do. After hearing several castings of Indignation, he decided it was time to investigate.]

Ahh, but that's the thing. I was studying elsewhere. I was in a clearing a good distance from here, trying to contract a spirit. However, it's rather hard to ignore your loud thunder strikes.

[Like a moth to the flame. Zero had been trailing around the forest in search of any leads on the Malnosso, only to hear what sounded like a thunderstorm on steroids in the distance. So he decided to investigate, and is now standing between some trees about thirty feet in the distance.

Not that he expected to see human responsible for the action, so his metaphorical jaw is kinda hanging to the ground now.]

[Human isn't quite the word for it. But the point is taken, nonetheless. Yuan doesn't quite notice Zero standing there, so he'll raise his saber to try again. Stop him or watch him cast the spell again?]

[Rydia enjoys wandering far from town; in the forest, she's able to pretend she's not a prisoner, at least as long as she avoids getting closer to the barrier. There was no goal to her wandering this time, merely following her whim of the moment.

She walks in the vicinity of the clearing, when the crackle and the sharp lightning bolt catch her attention. Curious, she wanders over and inspects the person found within.]

That was your doing, yes? Do you mind if I watch?

[Yuan didn't think he'd approached by a curious woman, but he certainly wasn't expecting her to ask something like that. He'll just lower his weapon, looking slightly confused.]

[Busy forest, today. Well, that's probably Yuan's own fault for attracting attention with enormous spells like Indignation. Have a somewhat blank stare, Zuko.]

[Well, contacting the elemental spirits isn't really the problem. After a year of being stuck here, Yuan's as much of a friend with the lightning spirit as he can be. Actually getting that magic to do what he's intending right now, though, is a different matter.

He's just going to stick his weapon into the ground and lean on it for a moment, staring at the charred grass. Yeah, he's not looking that pleased.]
