[Elsewhere, nine-year old Yuan is still hiding out in one of the caves with lil' Raine and lil' Pronyma. He took on the role of guardian, seeing as he's a bit older and male. Awww, ain't that cute? Jushirou Ukitake may or may not be there as well. But Yuan doesn't really trust him either way, so... Yeah.

He got bored, though, so he's decided to practice his writing and ABC skillz. It's extremely squiggly, childish handwriting]

[Plans foiled! But having a big brother around would probably help with the abandoned with an infant thing. Imagine how well that would go.]

[she shifts her position a little, as sitting all the way up is still painful]

[he puts the pen to the paper, thinks for a few moments, then starts to write;]

[looks over at the book after he starts writing, then shakes her head a little]

That's close, but not right. Do you want to try again?

[he nods vigorously]

Yes. I'll get it right this time! I promise!

[stares at the word for a few seconds, then writes down his second attempt;]

"Apple"

[smiles and starts to clap--but that hurts, so she winces in the attempt and just nods]

You did it that time.

Umm... how about... 'bird'?

[he starts writing again;]

"Bu"

[stops and frowns. Then, he scratches it out hastily and tries again;]

"Bird"

[holds it up]

That's right, too.

Try... umm. "House".

That one's tough...

[he tries anyway. Hmmm;]

"Howse"

[reads it, and shakes her head a little]

Close... it's not a "w".

Uhm...

[second try;]

"House"

[nods again]

You got it! [giggles a little, then winces again] O-oww...

Are you okay?

M-maybe I should try laying down again... I really don't feel good...

Okay. I'll... I'll be here.

O-okay... I think Mister Ukitake said he'd be back with dinner soon too.

[curt nod. He doesn't approve of mister Ukitake, but he does approve of food.]

[gives Yuan a small smile before trying to curl up into a more comfortable position on the floor. Since caves don't have beds. They probably do have blankets brought from town though.]
