[Yuan had headed to the general item store early in the morning, with the intent to search for new gadgets and appliances. Over the past year, he's taken quite a liking to tinkering with otherworldly technology, especially the electrical kind. He doesn't do anything too grand with it- he just finds it oddly therapeutical to take things apart and then put them back together, drawing blueprints of them as he goes. His trip was rewarded when his eyes fell on this little beauty, complete with batteries and a special adapter that could plug it into electrical outlets. Yuan's not entirely sure why you'd need two different power sources, but that's just another thing to examine when he takes it apart. There's just one problem.

Curiosity got the better of him and he decided to try it out in the store, to see what exactly this thing does. He found a cartridge with the word "Tetris" on it, which fitted perfectly into the slot on the back. One thing led to another, and five minutes later he found himself completely absorbed in the game.

How much time has passed since he started playing? He doesn't even know. He does know he decided to take a seat on the ground at some point, to make himself more comfortable. He also knows he needs to beat this level.]

Left... Left... Now turn! Good, now I just need- No! There is no place for a square! Damn, damn, damn!

[Yes, there is a grown man playing Tetris in a corner of the item store, now completely blind to his surroundings.]

[And of all the people Yuan wanted to meet right now... Well, Emil isn't exactly the last on his list, but he isn't high up, either. The pause button is hit in a moment's notice (he's learned his lesson by now) and he looks up to meet Emil's gaze unblinkingly.]

"Like" is an awfully strong word. [He's... reserving judgment until he's played more of these things.]

You sounded like you were getting pretty into it.

[That's why he came over, after all. He could hear Yuan yelling at the game all the way across the store.]

So what are you playing?

[Wow, he really needs to learn how to play games without losing himself in them. Either way, he tilts the Game Boy lightly so Emil can catch a glimpse of the screen.]

It's called Tetris.

[Don't mind him just leaning in a little closer for a better look! He studies the screen for a few moments, then:]

... you're playing as a block?

[What.] No, I'm directing the blocks. I'm not playing as anything.

Oh, I get it! So are you trying to match up the colors? That looks kind of complicated.

[fortunefail]

[What. The colors? Oh Emil.]

The aim is to fill up the gaps in such a way you create a perfect horizontal line. If you don't, the blocks will stack up and eventually you lose the game.

[knightofratatosk]

[Hey, matching up the colors makes perfect sense, okay.]

Making a line... that doesn't sound too difficult. I bet even I could do that. Hey, um... could I try it when you're done? Just to see what it's like.

... That's fine.

[He's already let plenty of other people play, so there's no reason to refuse Emil at this point. Just give him a second to reach Game Over. Now that he's distracted, that shouldn't take long.]

[No worries, Emil will just sit down quietly to wait, watching what Yuan is doing like a hawk so that he can figure out how this game works. Oh, so the blocks fit into the holes...]
