[It's the day after Yuan's return from the draft and while he needed plenty of sleep to recuperate, he's ready to venture out into the village again. Being trapped underground for five days gave him a newfound appreciation for fresh air and sunlight.

He slows his walk once he picks up on a familiar mana signature. ... Mithos. Yuan should probably just turn the other way, but Kratos told him Mithos was walking on crutches, now. He has to make sure that wasn't just a fluke, caused by that ridiculous prediction experiment.

So he approaches the source of the mana signature, only to see...

... A young boy?]

[He's occupied with jumping in the snow and seeing the footprints he leaves behind. He doesn't notice the strong presence of mana until it gets closer, and then he stands still in surprise. His sister taught him about mana and how everything in the world is made up of it, so he thought it was really weird that he couldn't feel it anywhere here. And he's never felt this much mana before. His eyes dart around curiously. He sees a man standing there, and he stares.

That must be most of the mana in the whole world, right? No wonder he couldn't feel it anywhere else in this village.]

[That boy... He's incredibly young, but there's no mistaking it. That's Mithos. And he's staring right at Yuan. He's staring. Yuan can't think of anything to do but stare right back.]

[...Oh, the man with all the mana is staring back. He looks down and fidgets nervously with the hem of his coat. Is he not supposed to be here? Nobody seemed to care when he was walking all around the village a few days ago...

But he notices something else about all that mana. It's not like all the elves from back home. It's not like his father's either, the only human he can compare it against.

It's more like his sister's.

His eyes shoot back up, and they're wide.] ...Are you...?

Hm?

[He has no clue what's going on inside Mithos's head and despite the boy's innocent demeanor, paranoia is setting in. What if he still remembers? Will he pick a fight? Yuan can't earnestly fight a seven year-old, even if it is Mithos.]

[He looks down again, still playing with the bottom of his coat.] ...You're a half-elf too.

[The mana is really powerful and not like anything else he's ever felt, but he can still tell.]

[... Oh. Oh, that's a relief. He wasn't expecting that question, but in retrospect, he really should've.]

Yes, I am.

[He smiles. He doesn't know any other half-elves aside from his sister. There are others in the village, but he's never talked to them before.....]

You can tell I'm one, right?

[He honestly doesn't remember... Now Yuan's left with a bit of a predicament. He can't just ignore an innocent boy, but if Mithos remembers his days as a young child once this passes, Yuan will hear about it.

Well, the least he can do is answer Mithos's questions.]

... Yes, I can. That's no problem for me.

[Hm, he doesn't seem as happy as Mithos thought he would be to know there's another half-elf here. He didn't seem like he wanted to talk about it much, and he figures that it's because he's afraid of people not liking him. Mithos understands what that's like.]

Don't worry, I don't think anybody here really minds. They're all really nice.

[When Yuan was young, meeting another half-elf was a rare treat. Now he's grown incredibly indifferent towards it. What he can still sympathize with, though, is the fear that humans around him will reject him for being a half-elf. The fear of ending up all alone.]

They are. The people here are all very accepting.

[He takes a few more steps closer to Mithos, before sinking into a crouching position to make better eye contact.]

My name is Yuan. And you are?

[Oh, it looks like that made him feel better. That's good.]

I'm Mithos!

[It's so difficult for Yuan to keep smiling, knowing what this boy will grow up to be, but... He has to try. He has to bear in mind that this boy isn't Yggdrasill. If anything, he's closer to Mithos the Hero.]

It's good to meet you, Mithos. Are you new to this village?

I'm a 'new feather'. [That's the word Grune told him. It's kinda funny, but maybe that's just normal for this village.] I've only been here a few days.

Is that so? Are you adjusting well?

Yeah...

I really, really, really miss my sister, though. [he shuffles his feet in the snow]

[Figures that Mithos would miss Martel most of all. Yuan isn't entirely certain what to say to this, though. Or if it's even his place to say anything.]

... Don't worry. I'm sure you'll be able to return to her soon enough.

I think it would be better to just live here. If my sister came here, I mean... People are a lot nicer. [he even has friends. 8|a]

[Yuan would argue with that and mention the experiments, but there's no point in spooking the kid. That'll only make Mithos resent him more when this is over. He needs to just smile and nod along.]

Hm... Well, who knows? If your sister can find her way here as well, perhaps it'll happen.

I hope she can... [Martel probably misses him as much as he misses her. He doesn't like his sister to be sad.]

... Are you staying with someone friendly for now?

Uh-huh! [He points toward the flower shop, where Kaori is.]

[Yuan has no clue what he means by pointing at the flower shop, but he decides not to ask. He shouldn't be too nosy. The more questions he asks and the longer the conversation lasts, the angrier Mithos will be in a week or two.]

Good. Then, I'll be on my way. [And he begins pushing himself to his feet again.]

[...Oh. His face falls. He was really excited to actually meet another half-elf for the first time, because his mother doesn't let him talk to the other ones who live in their town...and now Yuan's leaving. He looks up at him. 8(]
