[After the appearance of one of his 'old friends', Yuan has become extra cautious. He knows he can't avoid Mithos forever, but he sure as hell can try. At least until he's had a chance to discuss the matter with Kratos. That's why, as he makes his way through the village early in the morning, he may seem even more on edge than usual. Eyes shifting around suspiciously, occasionally throwing a glance over his shoulder, you know the drill.

Feel free to stop him anyway! He's headed for Kratos' house, but he'll stop by Raine's place while he's at it. This is partly to get her opinion on the situation and partly to see how she's doing.]

[He'd been expecting an attitude like this, and Mithos certainly didn't fail to deliver. It pains Yuan that despite everything, his old friend still can't accept that he was wrong. If he did, they wouldn't be in this mess in the first place. Still, Yuan's already come to terms with the fact that Mithos is beyond salvation. All he can do now is try to minimize the damage Cruxis' former leader leaves in his wake.]

I was only traitorous to your deluded goals. And I won't hesitate to raise my weapon against you in this place, should there be a need.

Your attempts to justify your actions are pathetic. You betrayed Martel.

[Even just seeing him, just thinking about it, makes him want to lash out at something. Preferably Yuan himself. And violently. To his great frustration and annoyance, however, he realizes that without his Cruxis Crystal he is essentially useless against Yuan. This only makes him want to lash out at him even more. Of course, he isn't about to let Yuan know any of this. Time to bluff: he scoffs derisively.]

I'm not about to waste my time and efforts on someone like you.

[Martel... The mere mention of her is like a quick jab to Yuan's chest. Still, he knows he did the right thing. Mithos was the one who sullied her memory and caused countless people to suffer in her name. He doesn't need to justify anything.]

Believe what you want to believe, it hardly matters. As long as you find a way to behave yourself, there's no need for us to clash.

Do not patronize me. Do you think you're better than me, simply because you won? [Because, obviously, everything Mithos has ever done was for Martel's sake, and there is no higher moral calling.]

[Yuan can't help but feel a little disgusted at that remark. Is that really how Mithos sees things?]

There were no winners in our little 'game'. Innocent people were killed, Mithos, and it's high time you understood that.

Innocent! [Bitter and rather unsettling laughter. This is going well.] Not a single person in that broken-down world is innocent. Anyone who has ever judged, hated, oppressed - none of them can claim innocence. The whole world was diseased.

Diseased or not, it was our world. The lands we had vowed to protect. Eradicating all human life because you feel even the smallest misstep puts someone on the same scale as a murderer is insanity. Not even the great Hero of legend has the right to make such judgments.

Why should I keep a promise to protect a world that failed to protect me, that failed to protect Martel? You have no right to lecture me. Who are you to decide what is right or wrong?

Anyone who hurts people senselessly is wrong. That's why I'm telling you right now that if I catch you with a toe out of line here, I won't stand by idly.

[Of course, Yuan knows perfectly well he's hurt plenty of people in his lifetime. So many, he's lost count. The difference is that he knows that was wrong, and not a single person was killed if he could avoid it.]

[Now would be a really great time to fire back with something about how he'll simply crush Yuan, but...that infuriating lack of power.]

Like I care about what you do. You over-estimate your significance, worthless dog.

[At this point, Mithos really isn't the only one who's bluffing. Yuan's under the impression he still has his Cruxis Crystal, and he's not sure if he could take Mithos if that were true.]

Whether you care is irrelevant.

Are you finished wasting my time? [Never mind the fact that he was the one who came to Yuan. It's entirely Yuan's fault for existing in the first place.]

[Yuan isn't even going to flatter that comment with a response. He'll just turn to leave. Mind you, he's still keeping his guard up. His fingers twitch uneasily, ready to summon his weapon to his hand should Mithos try to pull a fast one on him.]

[He isn't about to attack someone he knows to be perfectly capable of overpowering him in this unfortunate state. So instead he settles for glaring daggers (hundreds, and hundreds of rusty daggers) into Yuan's back, before turning in the complete opposite direction and going on his way.]
