[Yuan's eyes widen at that remark. What is she even saying? In her time, they were still happily engaded and while that may no longer be the case for him, he can't just ask her to forget the entire thing. That wouldn't be fair to her. Besides, he wouldn't want to move on, either way. Who could he truly love but Martel? It's either her, or no one at all.

He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small trinket, which he places on the table on front of her. Their engagement ring, the words worn after four thousand years, but apart from that still in good condition. A slim chain has been attached to it to make it easier to find, should Yuan lose it again.]
